Love the subject matter of this track! It's definitely all in MY head :) The track itself doesn't quite resonate and isn't quite our personal style or taste though, and the same with the art, not quite our style. At the same time, it's really well done! Thanks for sending such complete links and info, makes a big difference. Followed you on Spot, Ig and Tw so I can keep up with any new music you might release. I don't think you have to really identify only one genre for it by the way, you can reach out to multiple genres with this track, calling it singer songwriter, or indie pop or adult contemporary. Hope that's helpful, thanks for your submission! Good luck with your music.
Hi Ryan, you've asked for advice on genre along with blogs and curators you should be submitting to. Besides pop, you might try singer-songwriter and/or Americana curators and blogs. Your track has that middle-of-the-road earnest pop sound that is oversaturated and tough to place on blogs and playlists sometimes. It sounds like you are DIY and are aware of the sites that allow you to submit directly, I'd just keep doing that and see where you get results, that will tell you more about which genre it speaks to than anything anyone can say about it. And also, keep composing and recording music, it takes persistent consistent effort to get the attention of blogs and curators. And be sure to fill out the Spotify For Artists direct submission entry for the track. Hope that's helpful, thanks for your submission, good luck with your music!
Hey Ryan - thanks for the submission. It's a nice song, production, etc. Are you sold on you being the vocalist? That might be a question / feedback that might be touchy (but maybe not). I think your vocal is definitely good - but what if you found an INCREDIBLE vocalist (male or female) to be the front face / vocal of everything else that's happening here? That was the one thing that caught my attention and thought it was worth mentioning. Or maybe for the next release it could be something to experiment with or having a guest vocal feature?
