On "Short & Sweet" by Wil Deynes, the singer-songwriter channels all of his pop sensibilities to craft a delicate ballad that is instantly accessible. Structured around a simple beat and a few chords, the appeal is immediate. Likewise, lyrically the song is both simple and direct, as song's title suggests. The female lead vocal in the second verse provides a welcome accompaniment to the main lead vocal, creating a perfect synthesis between male and female perspective. There is a timeless quality to "Short & Sweet" that defies current musical trends and production techniques. This song could easily sit alongside any pop staples of the last thirty years.
Again, this sounds really good in my headphones, great production values, which is certainly not always the case with new artists. I personally like the first track better than this, it had more fine-tuned vocals I thought. Also, this track is more in the Adult Contemporary/MOR format and genre, and that style of song is typically tough to get attention for on the streaming platforms right now, so you might have to resort to other avenues to get your music heard, ie, show dates, engaging fans of other similar artists, in order to try to find your own fans and build your following. Also would suggest you release one track, followed by another at a later day, so you can pitch twice to Spotify for potential editorial consideration. Really a long shot, but worth it to try, I think, and since you don't have an artist profile up yet on Spot (that I can find), the first track released is going to get a little lost possibly, so you want to work out the kinks on that track first.....Hope that's helpful, thanks for your submissions, good luck with your music!
Well done production wise, it sounds really good in my headphones, which is always helpful! It's got sort of an old-school musical style (no electronic elements for ex), so there might be limited commercial viability. But its incredibly melodic in instrumentals and vocals. This track in particular is not my personal style or taste, but I'd love to hear other tracks that you might be working on as well, there could be a 'constant repeat' in there somewhere, since I love the melodic style of this. I looked you up on Spot and this must be your first release? Much work to do to engage your fans! These days that will make the difference in getting your music heard when there are literally an average of 40,000 tracks per day being released on the streaming platforms. Would like to see lyrics btw, to see if I better relate to the track. Hope that's helpful, thanks for your submission, good luck with your music!
