Try to envision a combination of London Grammar’s ethereality, Lana del Rey’s baroqueness and Florence and the Machine’s robustness; Known for her hauntingly beautiful melodies and unique linguistic tongue, Katherine Aly is the one to take you to an avant-pop journey of dreamy soundscapes with lyrical elements and cinematic vibes. Having a strong record of collaborations with various artists in the UK, the Netherlands and Greece, Edinburgh-based Katherine embarked on her solo career in 2019, with the release of her neoclassical single ‘’The Skin I’m Made Of’’, followed by the progressive ‘’Sunny Days’’, the music video of which was premiered on the Scotsman.
Katherine’s solo and collaborative work has taken her to the stages of the historic King Tut’s in Glasgow and The Dublin Castle in London, and many festivals like Hidden Door, EH6, Tenement Trail and Kelburn. Most recently her ‘incomparable performance’ at the First Footing showcase -one of The Skinny’s music highlights- led to more bookings around Scotland. Her live performance signature is a powerful multi-genre set, during which music turns into an all-round experience with a visual show enhancing her aesthetic as an artist.
Katherine’s songs have gained airplay on BBC Radio Scotland and nan Gaidheal, Amazing Radio, CamGlen Radio -where she’s also performed live- and radio stations in Canada, France, Spain, Australia and California, where she was voted in the Top 25 Pop Artists on Indie Star Radio. Katherine is currently working towards the completion of her debut album, while her next single coming out is dark pop, harp-led Misty Me, which was chosen by her fans who had the chance to listen to a small preview during a nail-biting poll. Katherine has also worked creatively with photographer and big supporter of her music, Jannica Honey and her project When the Blackbird Sings. They were recently featured in Vogue Italia online magazine.
