An immediately engaging kinda vibe.

This sounds like a creator in the process of finding her exact voice and style. There are moments of pure beauty, where everything just flows and comes together...but it is interspersed between other moments where the sound says 'I'm not sure what I am yet' to me.

This isn't at all a criticism, it's an invitation to just keep doing it. Keep doing the practice, all that separates you from your mastery is time and consistency. I am reminded of a quote by the incredible poet Rilke when asked for advice by a young admirer. It has served me well, and I hope it does the same for you now:
"You ask whether your verses are any good. You ask me. You have asked others before this. You send them to magazines. You compare them with other poems, and you are upset when certain editors reject your work. Now (since you have said you want my advice) I beg you to stop doing that sort of thing. You are looking outside, and that is what you should most avoid right now. No one can advise or help you - no one. There is only one thing you should do. Go into yourself. Find out the reason that commands you to write; see whether it has spread its roots into the very depths of your heart; confess to yourself whether you would have to die if you were forbidden to write. This most of all: ask yourself in the most silent hour of your night: must I write? Dig into yourself for a deep answer. And if this answer rings out in assent, if you meet this solemn question with a strong, simple "I must", then build your life in accordance with this necessity; your whole life, even into its humblest and most indifferent hour, must become a sign and witness to this impulse.” -Rainer Maria Rilke

Hope that helps and wishing you so so well on the road!

PS: if I was producing music like this when I was 17 I would have been SO VERY STOKED. I am impressed and wish I could produce home recordings of this standard even today 😅

This is really well done, especially for a self-produced project. I can also imagine what this song could become in the hands of a professional producer in a pro recording studio. I'd treat this as a high-quality demo that should be shopped around.

Two ideas: Get something up on YouTube, even a lyric video or a visualizer. Second, carve out 30 seconds from this song and post yourself on TikTok. This is the kind of material that could blow up on that platform, especially considering your age. The biggest user group on TikTok are people between 13-24. They're hungry for someone of their own age.

Good luck and let me spread this around through my social networks. That's good for about 100,000 people.

Hi Rachel and thanks for the submission. I think you're heading in the right direction and you have a really great, strong voice. Instead of producing the tracks, etc from scratch - have you thought about also getting some tracks and putting things together via Splice or collaborating with some writer/producers? I think your top lines and vocals are really strong and can hear them standing out and if that is your strength - i'd work more on that and try to find some more partners to make some music. Really nice piece and I'll drop by the website too.
