Bio
Writer and Photographer for Now This Sound is Brave since 2010. I like big drums and dirty bass lines. I do not like music that is dull. Be aware that if you ask me for my honest opinions, there’s a chance I will tell you I think your tunes are terrible and your video is tasteless and/or boring.

"Back Into The Dark" by David Rosen

Jennifer McGillan

Well, it's definitely creepy and weird. (I mean that in the best possible way.) Also kind of melancholy. The mummys (all of them, human and play-doh) have sad eyes. The music itself is also beautifully melancholy. I'm sure there is a filmmaker out there somewhere who would love to have this piece for their score.

I like the song. Solid '80s dance music vibe. Video is kind of muddled chaos of Way Too Much All At Once but I guess that's super '80s too.

Gone by Stohou

Jennifer McGillan

Definitely good chill-out music! I like the spaced out dreamy sound. Was left wondering if it is part of a larger composition (i.e. a record) and if so what does the rest sound like? But it definitely does also stand on it's own.

Love Is Fire by Northern National

Solid love song, would do well playing over a romantic moment/montage in a movie. Swoops and soars in all the best ways, and avoids being treacly.

Sweet Thing by The Fervor

Jennifer McGillan

I like the clear sweet vocals over the heavy drone. Will appeal to people who like the lighter end of experimental noise.

Mammoth (Official Video) by Brothers Among Wera

That was actually really sweet, and playful, and then the whammy at the end - good stuff. Way less aggressive nakedness than I was expecting.

I like this song. solid beat, solid hook. Can definitely envision the "Wild West"/concrete jungle that inspired it. Or at least *a* concrete jungle that might have inspired it, anyway. It's creepy and menacing and yet has verve.

Oooh, pretty colors. The song is good too; solid slow build and interesting interplay of musical textures.

Love the glow in the dark jammies and the Tron-style animations. Song is good too!

I like the song and the video. The retro look is great. Definitely captures the "I miss you but you couldn't PAY ME to be 21 ever again" feeling.

This is a nice bubbly pop song with bright cheerful tones that probably go well with frozen margaritas by the pool.

This is without question the most unusual cover of this song I have ever heard. I respect it's jagged ingenuity and off-kilter swagger but am not sure if I actually liked it or not. I'm baffled, but I think it counts as a success.

Frontier Light by Cities

Jennifer McGillan

Definitely like this one a lot; starts out light and feathery and then the darker tones kick in, and they add heft and depth but are not too overpowering - some shimmer remains. I feel like it should be on the soundtrack to a high tech heist movie - very "driving the getaway car down a dim street with the computer portentously lit in the backseat" vibe. A++ well done would like to hear the rest.

I think: interesting fusion of genres. The bluesy vocals really snap against the minimalist background.

Excellent use of tones, great narrative tension. Very much want to hear the rest.

I like it - sounds like the start of an interesting narrative arc. My grumbles are basically "But where is the REST?" and "but how does it END?" and that it sounds incomplete, like there should be more.

File Not Found (new mix) by Digital Slumber Party

I like it - kind of wish it were longer, I think? I want to hear where you're going with those patterns. Very soothing, though. Didn't really hear the Tears for Fears elements; has to be heavier and more solid if that's what you're after. (Best I can do here is: "needs more thump" which, uh, may or may not make sense. But Tears For Fears was something you could feel, something that pushed at you.) Also the album art is super cute; love the green-eyed devil kitty!

It's a solid disco tune; I'm not super into disco, myself, but I would totally couples skate to this song.

Sounds like traveling through the vastness of space, perhaps while attempting to navigate an asteroid field. Or maybe just an endless openness. A++, would listen to the rest of your minimalist space opera.
