If You're Up For This by Lucia Valentine

Lucy Tallant

You have very clean vocals and the track is well produced. I took a look at your socials, and noticed you posted several tracks on the same day on Soundcloud. I would separate them and upload one every 2 weeks to allow people to find them and for them to each grow. Also on your Soundcloud, in the info section make sure you add a contact email and links to your other socials. This will help your general growth too as people discover you. Keep up the Youtube covers too, but make them more regular.
Good luck!

Sin City by James Dapper

Lucy Tallant

Hey James! I like the basis here.. if I'm absolutely honest, I would say this sounds like a demo and not a final polished product. The vocals could do with some back up harmonies / doubling over in places to help build the track up, and I really like the rap section, you could maybe make more of that. However looking across your online profiles the artwork supporting your music is great, you're regular on twitter and insta, and you have a great looking website. These are all brilliant foundations to build upon. I would definitely look to find some people online to collaborate with in terms of vocals or remixes to help broaden your fanbase. Also It's not for me (or anyone really) to say whether a track is ready. If this is 100% the sound you're happy with then maybe look to some online PR to help get some blog interest going / getting up on Hype Machine etc. Stick at it!

Really well written and produced indie track! You're getting some decent blog pick up and comments on Soundcloud so next step would be to get the live plot going.

OMEN by Natasha-Leigh Smith

Lucy Tallant

Hi Natasha, thanks so much for sending this in, really like the song, are there any more tracks you could send me to hear? I like the slightly rocky edge to the track. Would you consider fronting a band? - It's hard to tell your full direction from the one song... I had a look at your insta and YouTube.. If I'm honest then I would say you could put more time into working out the artist you want to be.. as for me your look doesn't necessarily fit the music... - that's not a negative at all about how you look.. just that to be an artist your brand has to be on point - it's almost as important as the music these days.

Aphelion did a great job on the production here, really like this track. I would probably make a start by getting this out to college radio. This kind of vibe does well in those circles and getting on those college radio charts would really help raise your profile and awareness across the US.

This track is really well produced and love the feel of the song. DEFO get this on the college radio circuit and keep it up! In terms of marketing first off make sure everything works... for example you have an instagram link on your website which has a broken link on it.. Also get as interactive on Fbook and Twitter as possible.

Hey I really enjoyed this! 1:10 in I'd be careful not to make the synths too dated as the most part of the record is very current. Other then that it's well put together and the vocals are brilliant. In terms of marketing I definitely think you could invest in some club promotion on this. Other then that perhaps contact some sync agencies who might be able to find it some opportunities because the production is definitely strong enough! I'll defo go check out more of your music.

You've done a really great job here and I really enjoyed the lyric video! I would look at getting in touch with some live agents and get as many gigs as possible (if you're not already). Best way to promote music is in person by yourself so get out there in as many underground clubs and shows as possible. Other then that keep at it, collaborate with as many people as you can to continue to explore the genre.

For Someone by Flora Cash

Lucy Tallant

Hey guys! Thanks for sending this over it's a really well constructed record. I could definitely hear this on an advert so maybe get it to some publishers / sync companies for feedback there. I would maybe make more of a feature of the female vocals as that's when the track really struck me. Maybe bring it in as a hook in the intro somehow to catch attention - I love the contrast of the male and female vocals though! Good production and nice record, keep it up!

Dark Matter (UNRELEASED) by Mark Diamond

Lucy Tallant

Hi Mark!
Thanks for this, really nice pop song! You're definitely on to something. In your biog you say that your first show was in Feb 2016? If that's the case then keep going, get in front of people as much as possible, doesn't matter if you play to 1 person or 10,000 the best way to sell music is to put people in front of it. Your production is good - can't tell if the drums are live or programmed though, live drums on this would help bring it alive (if they are live perhaps look at the mixing a little more). I'll be keeping an eye on your channels but keep writing catchy choruses and power verses and you'll grow.

The song is really good, if I'm honest then the production needs a little work to make it a little more modern sounding so perhaps look at finding some other producers to collaborate with in LA. The video is well edited and works with the lyric though so good job over all

All My Love by MEMORYY

Lucy Tallant

Hi, thanks so much for sending this through! I think the production on it would really work for the european markets, for me a strong female vocal on it would make it stand out a little more. I would look to re-record it and get it out to some publishers / push for it to be distributed to some european Spotify playlists and grow it that way. Keep at what you're doing for sure!

Really enjoyed this! I took a look across at your Soundcloud page and a couple quick tips - there's no contact info on your page so make sure to add something there incase anyone listening wants to get in touch re collabs, booking or from a label angle! Talking of collabs a great way for you to grow your profile is to reach out to other Soundcloud artists in a similar genre to yourself and via the internet you can do some surprisingly effective collabs which both create a new sound and enable a new listener base to hear your voice and your name. Keep at what you're doing, get on the road and do some live shows.

Sterling Angel-Survive by Sterling Angel

Lucy Tallant

I totally get the direction you were taking this in... for me it's just that little bit too repetitive for me - I understand that's part of the genre mechanic - but some additional sections in the record wouldn't go a miss. I do think your goals are realistic! I could totally see this being synced so make sure to hit up a couple of sync companies and get your music heard as that will be your easiest way into the commercial / film and tv markets. All the best, keep at it!

Campbelltown Music submitted media.

Lucy Tallant

Hi, really like this! It's well produced, lyrics are well written and it fits in with current music so congrats! You should definitely get in touch with some US sync departments / publishers and continue to craft your songwriting by working with other writers and / or collaborating on your projects as well as theirs. Stick at it, you're onto something here.

Tonight [Prod. by TKANG!!!] by Lucien Dante

Lucy Tallant

Hi Lucien, thanks for sending this in! Really enjoyed the track it has all the parts that make up a great pop record and I'm definitely going to look for more of your music. If I was to give any advice it would be just to invest in having someone mix the record as sometimes the vocals are lost a tiny bit as there's a lot going on in the background.

Robin Henderson submitted media.

Lucy Tallant

Hey guys, thanks for sending this in. I actually do like the record, I would say my main comment would however be that it does sound slightly dated... There are definitely areas of Europe that would love this so maybe contact some european PR companies/publishers and get some feedback - France/Germany especially - If you're aiming for UK then I don't think it's a case of there being anything wrong with the instrumentations just the sounds are a little dated - for me anyway. Hope this helps in some way!!

Just Dancing by 7Attic

Lucy Tallant

Hi all, I really enjoyed this. MY suggestions would be to try and hit the sync / advert market as I could definitely hear this being on tv! As far as radio's concerned I love the direction but I don't think it's 'quite' catchy enough to challenge your competitors in this market - for example you'd be going head to head against Charli XCX. Please do keep me up to date on what you're up to, would love to come see you live.

Time Machine (Prod. By NOBULL) by Block Scholars

Lucy Tallant

Hi,
Thanks for sending this through. I can see why you won awards with this and congrats for it's success so far. If I was to lend some advice... I just clicked through to your Soundcloud page and its full of music - which is fab... but some have 100,000 + views and others have under 10. I would put albums up in playlists and take them down as individual tracks so the page isn't SO full. It's great to keep re-introducing this track and yes agreed it is still of course new to a lot of listeners, but be careful not to dwell on the past.. Labels and A&R's want to see what you're writing now is as good as what you wrote there so mentioning your accolades is a great thing to build from but be sure to have new music that's as good if not better to follow on that conversation with.

Amber Skye submitted media.

Lucy Tallant

Hey Amber,
Thanks for sending this through the project sounds really exciting. It's hard to give feedback because it seems like you already have a fan base and are doing everything you can to make this EP a reality. My feedback would be to of course get a recording you're happy with but you mentioned packaging in your video. Literally everything is digital these days, don't waste money on getting CD's made. Also I checked out your kickstarted....$18,000 is a LOT for an EP - even on an indie label that budget would be really high so I'd say be careful with your budgets. Find people who believe in your music and will help you on your way for a low fee. I hope this helps in some way, all the best with your project!

Seeing What's Next (Preview) by Hollywood Principle

Lucy Tallant

Wow this sounds great! Excited to hear the full thing on the 12th. Production is relevant to today's industry and suits my tastes perfectly. I'll be sure to keep an eye out for it next week! It's hard to give feedback on a short clip and I'm not very good at jokes so all I can provide you with is best wishes because you're on to something here!

Listen (Official Music Video) by Palm Trees & Power Lines

Lucy Tallant

Firstly you guys have done a really great job! You've sustained a fair fan base, you're creating well written and recorded music and 'proper' videos to go with them. I took a look at your socials and YouTube channel etc, nice to see you doing plenty of BTS and extra content. If you keep all the above up I have no doubt you'll only continue to grow. Next stage would be to perhaps create more of a 'brand' around your band. Get some merch going - nothing crazy - and a clear logo which can easily be recognisable - not necessarily the band name as I see there's a logo for that, but something that could represent palm trees and power lines perhaps which you can then embed into each visual you do and this will help expand your opportunities into sponsorships and partners. Keep up all the hard work, be sure to let me know re your next release!!

Gas (Official Video) by Itz Prof

Lucy Tallant

The production on this is tight! I like the lyrical content and the hook is catchy. I clicked through to your video on YouTube to see how it was doing. Quick note would be to make sure that the first few lines in your info section are links to either buy / download the track followed by social links - make sure these start with http:// or they won't be clickthrough and you'll lose potential followers (as people tend to be lazy and not copy & paste). About to subscribe, look forward to hearing how you continue to develop!

John Vaughan submitted media.

Lucy Tallant

Thanks for sending me this! I actually really feel the lyrics and the meaning of the treadmill - except without knowing that's the name of your EP, I wouldn't necessarily have made the link... Also I'd be careful starting a video with an intro like that... If you sent this to a label / or other industry exec who has 500 of these in his inbox, you're lucky if they'll listen past it.. the first 10 seconds of a track are the most important when sending a demo so make sure you grab them there.

DeQuan Henderson submitted media.

Lucy Tallant

Hi D9! I really like this! One comment would be if you're only going to provide a snippet, don't waste the majourity of the time on the intro.. once the song kicked in the rappers flow was smooth (reminded me of Will Smith's flow) which is a refreshing change in 2015! Then the chorus comes through and was catchy. So what's your plan with the track? Think about how to get more ears on this because it's GOOD! Is there more of the same? Why only a snippet? I would forward on to some blogs but they would want the whole track...

In Your Hands (demo edit) by Tanner Derrby Feat. Enza Russo

Lucy Tallant

Hi Tanner,
Thanks for sending this through, loved it! The chord progression was catchy and loved the arpeggios from the piano at 0:40.. you can tell thought has gone into the creation of the instrumentation. I am not opposed to auto tune because ever song uses it, but be careful of it in some parts you can hear it's effect on Enza's voice and she has a great tone which I wouldn't want to ruin. You've created a great little demo here and it definitely deserves to be finished! Once the chorus is finished I would work on building that production even more. The post chorus 'dance section' is often heavily synth driven and a short 4 bar repeated riff so work on building up to that. All in all this could be a good, catchy, summer pop/dance track! Great job! - Following on SCloud to see what else comes!

THE S.T.R.U.G.G.L.E.(Demo) by AfriCali Genre

Lucy Tallant

Thanks so much for sending this through, brightened my Wednesday! Love the mix of blues chord progressions and Ethiopian / african beats, I didn't know what to expect, but it really works! As far as world music goes this is definitely up there and please do keep creating more of the same! Are you doing shows? If so, think about your live setup and how you can make it as visually interesting as possible to show off the blend of influences here as that's your key selling point.

Justin Sheriff submitted media.

Don't Be Down by People Like You

Lucy Tallant

The instrumentation and offbeat reggae feel to this track is perfect for summer! I found the vocals a little too loud in the mix, so perhaps be careful that the cool rawness to your voice doesn't overpower the instrumentation. All in all this is a cool sound the further the track went on the more I got into it! Keep uploading tracks and growing your fanbase online for sure!

submitted media.

Lucy Tallant

I actually really love the melody here. It's the production that could really make this track something special though. The vocals are a little lost in the mix and the production is pretty old school - not sure if that's a deliberate move, but be careful if it is deliberate that it's more obvious as I see you have a lot of 90's influences but while you're trying to blend a 90's sound and make it current... I'm not sure in this instance it completely works.. So perhaps look at what you're trying to achieve here. If it's to be 90s sounding, then concentrate on that - it will still be popular and effective, or, if you're wanting a current feel be careful with the older synth sounds.

On the whole though the track is cool You have segments of almost 'strings of life' house strings, then guetta / harris piano chord sequences with this 90s synth throughout... it's a bit confusing to my ear... but if you can work out your musical direction 100%, the lyrics / melody and vocals are definitely there!

Static Life by Kelsey Muse

Lucy Tallant

I like this! Love that you switch it up a bit with the production. Chorus is catchy, vocals are clear. On thing is after the bridge before the last chorus when you sing 'This is goodbye' ... Maybe add a few seconds of silence, or build up production to the last chorus for added affect. I want to hear more!

Dylan Myers submitted media.

One and only's by Dylan Myers

Lucy Tallant

The chord progression used here is really great. I think the main thing I'd say is to work on your recording technique as the vocals are a little lost and could do with being layered in separately to the guitar. Keen to hear a clearer recording!!

A Chapter Lost In Us by Stereoshock

Lucy Tallant

I got totally lost in this. In a good sense!
You have created a beautiful cinematic piece, but what's more is it's really the simplicity of it which is so completely engaging. It's almost like you're creating your own genre and encapsulating listeners with your crescendos of sound. The added sound effects take your imagination away and I really feel you're onto something new here. Keep it up for sure. You fully deserve all the praise you're getting from this soundcloud link!!

B DeVINE submitted media.

Lucy Tallant

I liked this! Nice flow to the whole track and well constructed track. My main point would be that while I love the throwback flute and 90's/early 00's RnB sound to this, the production is still somewhat empty in parts. Perhaps some additional adlibs could do the trick or a more significant bass line? The vocals are great and the rap well suited. You have a good track here!
